Things to do in Devon in the Winter

Devon is a well loved holiday hotspot during the summer months, but it is also a great place to go in the winter too. With less tourists, you don’t have to contend with cramped streets and traffic jams, and there are plenty of things to enjoy in the county of Devon during the winter months…

There are lots of festive activities to enjoy around Christmas in Devon. One of the most popular events is the Christmas Market in the grounds of Exeter cathedral, where you can wander around, find some unique gifts and enjoy the festive atmosphere of the stunning cathedral. Plymouth also has a city centre Christmas market with handmade gifts and mulled wine aplenty, and many of the smaller villages look beautiful over the festive season when they are decked in twinkling lights.

The great outdoors is truly great in Devon, so wrap up warm and you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to going for a stroll. Walk the southwest coast path and enjoy the bracing sea air, whilst looking for many of the birds that live around the beaches and cliffs.

You can also walk across the beautiful countryside of Dartmoor and explore the woodlands at their most wintery!

Food is also something that is great in Devon – at this time of year, embrace the atmosphere of many of the country pubs with roaring fires, or indulge in a classic afternoon cream tea. If you want to bring the memories home with you, you can order yourself an afternoon tea box delivery like this https://www.afternoonteabox.com
