What Different Tools Do Dentists Use?

When it comes to the tools that dentists use, they have quite a few, but there are only four main tools that most dentists use on a daily basis. These are the mirror, drill, scaler, and probe. Each of these tools is used in their own specific way, but there are a few more items that are important to have as well. These include a suction device, different sized tweezers, sterilized gauze pads, disinfectant, and syringes.

One of the most important pieces of equipment that a dentist uses is the power drill. These come in both electric and hydraulic forms, depending on the condition of the tooth being worked on. Some people prefer to use the hydraulic one, because it can be much more convenient to use, but the electric ones are also effective for getting into deeper crevices that a drill cannot reach safely. Different types of power drills come in different sizes, with some being only able to handle small cavities while others are capable of working with bigger, dental jobs. Another important piece of dental equipment that most dentists use is the scraper. These tools can vary greatly in function, from handheld devices that can be placed on the tooth itself, or they can be large instruments that are used for complicated dental procedures. Suction devices are the most popular tools, as these can make the dentist’s work much easier.
