The Lake District in beautiful Cumbria is one of the most stunning places in the world to visit and attracts people from all over the world hoping to enjoy the beautiful countryside and take in the fantastic scenery. A holiday in the Lake District is the perfect way to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and the best way to explore the lakes is by walking. So pack your hiking boots and your walking maps from the map shop and head off on an adventure in the Lakes…

For walkers who want a slower pace and are more interested in a more gentle walk then walk the short route from Keswick to Friars Crag. The view once you get there is stunning, and only takes 15 minutes from your starting point. The terrain is easy to navigate so it is perfect for people with small children or older people.

For a longer walk, those up for walking 10 miles will enjoy the walk around Derwentwater. The walk itself isn’t challenging or hilly, so as long as you are happy with the distance the views you will be rewarded with are stunning. Taking in both the lake and the woodland surrounding it, there are plenty of places along the way where you can stop off for a picnic.

Take the Ullswater way to see some of the most magical sights you will ever see -the sun coming up over the lake, waterfalls and woodlands, this route has it all. You can choose which routes you want to take – some head away from the lake and some follow the lake’s edge.
