It can be a daunting prospect having to care for somebody who has experienced severe trauma, however there are plenty of ways in which you can be supportive and help them through the experience. There are a number of ways in which you can seek to help the person who has experienced trauma feel better in themselves.   1. Firstly, you should allow the time to listen to the person who has experienced the problem. You should also make sure that you validate how they feel and make sure you acknowledge that what they’re feeling is real and ok.

  1. You must also be encouraging of the person to try and look at ways of self-care. Healing can come from within and these are gained by such activities as healthy eating, exercise and art therapy.
  1. Finally make sure that you are aware and respectful of any boundaries that person has with regards to their trauma.Try to learn more about the subject yourself so that you can have that understanding.
